I need suggestion on how to modify my front hatch to stop it from leaking water when it rains. I have looked at 2003 models and it seems catalina made modifications to fix the problem. Any suggestions for a 2002 250 model will be appreciated.

Leaking hatch problem

In part, the answer depends upon if it is leaking on while in a slip or moored or while on a trailer. First, be certain the anchor locker drain is not plugged as the rain gutter for the hatch drains into the locker. The foam weather stripping must be in good shape to make contact with the hatch when its dogged down. If the boat is on a trailer, the pitch of the trailer is critical. I actually use one of the magnetic based angle gages, setting it on the trailer tounge while on the road and spending the night at a campground to insure that the trailer pitch is about 1 degree stern down. More or less will create problems for either the foreward hatch or companionway rain gutters which oppose each other.

Thanks, appreciate a response

Thanks for your response. The bow hatch leak occured the worst when our boat was on the craddel and tilting slightly to the stern which explains why it was not draining through the anchor locker. Two more questions when on the water: 1. To keep our boat with the correct balance/waterline do I need to keep the water locker full to add weight to the bow? With my outboard and holding tank at the stern it seems to push down the stern of our boat down below the boats indicated waterline. 2. My weather striping is attached to the hatch cover vs. the hatch bottom seal...should I reverse the weather striping to ensure a tighter fit? Tks in advance for your response.
