Fouled Windex

Don't ask me how it happened, but somehow my windex is fouled on my VHF whip antenna. I think it happened when we gybe'd last Tuesday. I know it was working when we turned into wind to set the sails. I think I'm going to have to go up there. Anyone ever have this happen?

Nope. I suppose your vhf antenna is mounted on an L-type bracket that is short? Mine put the antenna at least 6" away from the mast and my Windex is at centre of mast, atop the Anchor/steaming light combo. I've no clashing issue with these two.

The wip antenna probably bent over at just the wrong time as the windex turned past it. If you are going up the mast you might as well inspect the anchor light while you are there. don't forget your hand mirror.

When my wife and I were motoring offshore in 5' seas, the tip of the mast on our Hunter Vision 32 was whipping so wildly that the antenna flung itself under the anemometer. This weekend I successfully unhooked it using a piece of copper wire attached to the main halyard. It took about an hour, so going up the mast may have been a quicker way.
