Not sure exactly, but...
Im not sure the exact reason but I'll tell you why I like it... it makes single-handing a breeze because everything you need to trim (main sheet, jib sheet winches) is within reach.
the only down side is that it restricts getting in and out of the campanion way, but I dont mind this much.
