OK, we're back from Florida,(but will be returning soon to our new house there), and visited my new design C-22. On mine, the forward hatch can be opened or closed from the outside on inside. On the latch handle, there is a grey sliding portion that locks the handle from turning enough to allow you to open it. Slide it back, and you're good to go from the inside or from up on the deck. In the photo, the latch in unlocked, and unlatched.

Thanks Don, I thought that was how they likely worked.
The outside handle design didn't make sense otherwise.

Unfortunately I can't see how that specific latch can be modified to work on the older solid hatch.
I assume it simply locks into an angled plate to pull the hatch tight, which would probably for modification, but the plastic body probably can't be modified to handle the much thicker fibreglass hatch.

Well, tried to post some photos, for some reason the "upload a file" button doesn't seem to be responding tonight.

Any way Gene, it's a neat community called "Silverleaf", about 5 miles east of I-75 on HWY-301 N.E. of Sarasota. Now I need to find a storage facility for my boats. Leaving next weekend to bring my kayaks and trailer to Florida, then fly back to San Diego. I figure 4 cross country trips to get my toys and household junk moved there.

New latches installed leaks removed pictures to follow.

Honestly I liked the looks of the first ones but these don't leak so non leaking trumps good looks.

OK Gene.....here's your proof. Our villa is the one on the left. I was glad to learn my kayak's don't need to be registered!

Shoot! We're practically neighbors. We're two and a half hours north of you, on I75 the whole way.

I'll bet that place is AMAZING. I'm definitely jealous!!

What's your local marina (or marinas) going to be down there, do you have any picked out?

Wait. Holy thread drift, Batman. Sorry!!

Gene, we're at mile marker 224 on I-75, (Hwy-301), and 4 miles east. I thought you were south of us. I haven't got a clew where the boats will be yet. I'm leaving next Saturday taking the kayaks and I'll rent a storage locker for them, and leave one of our cars there, then fly back to do more packing and make another run.

The development is really nice, loaded with amenities right there, and they take care of all exterior work, i.e. cutting the grass, taking care of the flowers and trees, sprinkler system, water, exterior house painting, and roof issues should there be a problem. So I can play and not worry about getting home to cut the grass!

Gene, PM me your contact information, I looked on the map where you are and I'll be passing through your area probably 12-1 or 12-2

Can't wait to get settled and start exploring the area.

PM sent. I'm at marker 368 BTW.

We've been exploring the area for you this week! We just got back late last night from a five day cruise in the 10,000 Islands. The chair I'm sitting on is relentlessly pitching and rolling under me right now, LOL. Tuesday thru Thursday it was blowing 20 to 30 knots nonstop. Never took the second reef out the entire time, if we had the main up at all.

You're in for a treat though, it's a beautiful area. I'll post pics in Spartacus 99's thread.

Awesome long and straight driveway with virtually no grade, very nice for parking the trailer to do maintenance. Hopefully your HOA won't have an issue with minor work, cleaning, rigging, or the occasional bottom paint job!
