Last night I was finally able to get out to the lake and take off the O'Day sail and put on the Catalina. It looks funny, but was free so I can't complain! Anyway, my earlier question here was about the size of the sail. Turns out the new sail is a "speed sail", and is in absolutely perfect condition. It is about 3 1/2' shorter than my mast, but works fine. We will definitely be taking her out this weekend to test the new sail. I wanted to thank everyone who gave me such great info when I posted my silly question.
My sailing buddy says that he thinks I can raise the boom if I really just HAVE to have the sail at the top of the mast, but I am going to try it this way first. I don't think I have to tell any of you how excited and happy I am to be back in the water again, and ready to sail!
