Outfitting

Hi Kurt - Sounds like you're getting ready to spend some money on toys for the boat! I can recommend Doyle's cruising chutes with ATN sock - see Related link below for pricing from this site. I had a great experience when I ordered mine. Regarding props, there are many choices; fixed, folding or feathering. The high buck options for feathering are Max Prop and Autoprop - both props have been highly recommended. Depends on whether you want more efficient motoring or sailling (to boil it down). Folding props reduce drag under sail at the expense of powering in reverse. Lots to consider here. Me? I've gone with Max props on 3 of my last 4 boats. Looking for used gear? Try posting a free ad in Gear Here (from Main Page, hover on Boats for Sale Tab drop down menu). Just some thoughts - have fun! Trevor

Flex-o-fold

I installed a two blade flex-o-fold last year on my C30. It took me a while to decide that the folding prop would probably work OK for backing and it was a lot cheaper than variable pitch solutions. Anyway my experience has been that I have noticed only improved performance in reverse. My boat now backs smoothly and straight with no prop walk. I can also back down quickly from forward motion without the boat going out of control and twisting due to prop walk. Sail performance noticably better too and I don't have to worry about prop shaft freewheeling, not suppose to be good for the tranny.
