Looked at a few Yanmar engine mount replacement videos;
One nice trick a fellow did in a video was to superglue the bottom washers to the mounting nuts so he could just slide the box wrench with the nut on it into the underside of the supports without trying to squeeze a hand in there.
Yes! I did that also (super glue gel); otherwise, I would have lost a bunch of flat washers & nyloc nuts inside the stringer cavity!
I worked from above the stringer with an electric ratchet & my buddy worked from below the stringer with an offset / angled box end wrench. Problem is that the access hole on the inside surface of the stringer is too small & you can't see what you're doing, have to do it by feel only. To make matters worse, you have to hold the box end wrench at two different angles to blindly capture & engage the backing nut. Very frustrating & time consuming. :banghead:

Looked at a few Yanmar engine mount replacement videos; after watching I'm convinced that's the problem. A couple of people used the Oceanic Innovations mount, which are priced at $540 for 2GM and 3GM motors and based in the US. Has anyone else used them?

I thinks Mads on the YouTube channel Sail Life used those when he mounted the 2 Yanmars on his new project boat.

Check the Ellebogen site for videos on how to replace the mounts. At least on my 3JH2e the engine mount bracket detaches from the block, so it is not necessary to raise the engine to swap out the mounts.

Check the number embossed on the side of the mount on you engine to make certain you get the right mount. Again on my engine there were options for 2 different numbered mounts on the port side.

So, are there boat projects in which a box wrench fits the same both ways? One project on my Atomic had me near tears for that reason. And of course throw of the wrench was about a quarter turn. :banghead::banghead:
