That would concern me greatly. It will cost a lot of money to re-power a boat. If the inboard is working but in poor shape it might be a good idea to pass up this boat unless you are a mechanic and can get engines cheap. Otherwise, start looking elsewhere. If the hair on the back of your neck stands up, it does so for a reason. Obviously, something has alerted you that this may be a risky purchase so it is time to start looking around.
How about you put down the perimeters of what you are looking for (size, price you are willing to spend, and type of use you envision for it) and see what other members can scare up. Yachtworld is a handy resource for finding boats and I am sure that you can find a better boat.
