Lots of floatation
Odays are well-known for their safe designs, which include lots of foam floation in the event the boat gets water-logged. The foam is usually styrofoam boards and is built into the hull. It's usually packed underneath the v-berth and cockpit sole. For example, I removed the plywood partition that separated the cockpit lazarette from the space under the cockpit (was rotted out). The space under the floor was completely packed with long styrofoam boards. Same was true of the v-berth. I agree with Mike about capsizing - she shouldn't capsize in any condition that you'd reasonable be out in. I don't thing heeling over is going to cause a capsize. By the way, being over that far really isn't an effcient way to sail, but it sure can be fun! Different model, but if I put my 22 over really hard (rail under), she would spin up into the wind. Oday's are not speedsters, but are very safe and predictable. Have fun! Brad
