Hey gang-We've had our 1989 First 235 for almost ten years, but only now discovered all these great web resources. So- here's a question that I've had for years on our 235's reefing system. We have the stock, original Zspars mast and UK Sailmakers mainsail. I have never been able to use the 2nd mainsail reef due to the fact that the reef cringle can't be drawn anywhere even close to the reefing hook at the gooseneck. See the attached photo to see what I mean. The one and only time that we were able to use that topmost reef was by removing the lower 3 feet of slides from the luff of the sail! NOT "jiffy-reefing" for sure! Normally this isn't a problem on the retchedly light winds of Lake Lanier, but "when you need it, you need it."I don't have another nearby 235 to compare, but I have to wonder if this sail or mast was mis-rigged from the dealer or original owner. Or am I missing something altogether! Thanks!Dave
