Ferrite Noise Reducer/Filter

It was on the power cable. If there's enough room in the opening, you can loop the wire through to hold it in place, or tie wrap, tape, etc.
It could be on either but standard practice is to put the ferrite at the antenna end of the antenna cable. There is not much utility in putting it at the receiver end. This would lead me to believe that it went onto the power cables.
Ferrites are used to block RF energy from moving across them and into other items like people or equipment. They are not a noise filter so the only things that need them are things that produce RF energy. That would be radio antennas (The RF is inside the antenna coax till it hits the antenna proper then leaks around the ground sheath of the coax) and microprocessors of all types (the power cords, any signal lines should NOT have ferrites as they dampen AC currents which is not what you are looking for in low voltage signal lines).
If you have motor noises then a capacitor is the correct electrical item to use. Put is as close to the motor case as possible and connect it across the power and ground wires.
