Night Time

I entered fall on the survey because generally you think about day sailing only. However, our favorite sailing is night time sailing in the summer.

Any boating season is better than working

Any season is great to be on the boat. This season I will head to the Chesapeake for the spring and summer. This Fall I am retiring and heading SOUTH to warm weather and clear waters of the Bahamas for the winter. A bad day on the water is better than ANY DAY at work!

Kinda Like Getting Cranium

It is all good, but some is better than others. That aside we like the bright warm days in the winter and evenings and nights in the fall.

Any Day with Moving Air

I entered Fall on the survey, because the Chesapeake Bay is quieter, but the days are still hot and sunny, the water still warm for swimming, but its windier than high Summer. I like sailing in all of the seasons. Also a note to Dan McG: Last October we had the most beautiful night sail ever! Only us, the moon, and the water on the Bay. We couldn't stop sailing-we were absolutely under a sailing spell! We even cooked hamburgers on the grill while at a 15 degree (or so) heel. We finally dropped our hook between 10pm and 11pm! Someday I hope you get a chance to do the same on the Bay!

All Seasons

As you can see, I boat in two areas. Hence, my answer all seasons.

Any time the wind blows but I like the fall the best.

Is there an

I am now begining my eighth season sailing. For the first seven, I routianly pulled the boat out in November and splashed back in by May. This year due to financial reasons I left the boat in its slip. Well, I figured, if its in the water I may as well use it. It was a good call, for my friends and I got treated some of the wildest sailing over the winter (at least when there were no ice flows). I now think I will keep the boat in the water every year. Is winter my favorite season? No. I love them all as long as I am out on the water.

Fall in the Chesapeake

The wind is cool and strong, And the water warm. You look around to living art. The sky is deep blue and the clouds are wispy. Summer is gone and the bay is scattered with sails that look like small twisted calligraphy. An occasional oyster rig sways to the tune of the waves. The evenings are cooler and made for snuggling your favorite companion. You can take a deep filling breath and think how fortunate you are to be here. You may wonder if you were meant to be here And you get completely filled. You’re sailing on your journey. You can be anywhere, anytime. Mike D Eastern Shore, MD

Fall, most definately

I love the fall best. It is not too hot nor too cold early on. But I hate the season that is just around the corner!

Season Does Not Matter

But I do prefer to sail at night, it makes all the reasons we sail even better.

Forced to choose

Given the 4 seasons as choices, I had to choose Spring. But, we sail Year-round and each season on San Francisco Bay has its' particular delights!

summer or fall, different reasons

My initial reaction to this question was, "Any 'season' but Saturday or Sunday." Nevertheless, to answer the question ... I like to be on the lake most any summer evening. The powerboaters are off the lake, tranquility sets in, the sunsets can be spectacular, and later sailing by moonlight is transcendant. Usually there is just enough wind to fill the sails and quietly bubble along. Or, I can drop everything and jump in. Whichever, it's peaceful enough to restore my soul, which is the point it, to me. But I guess I'm forced to choose fall as my favorite. Water's still warm enough to swim, and the wind can get the rail down, which restores my soul in a different way! I disdain to choose between the two. Tom Monroe Carlyle Lake

Give me wind first - season second

Sailing means wind. Our best wind seasons are winter and spring. This is also the racing season in Puget Sound. By summer the temps are nice, but the sails hang and flop in the waves of motor boats. Late summer afternoon can have breezes with the loss of heat on land. So we often postpone anchoring until near sunset (9 or 10 pm) on summer trips.
