Thought of one

That I haven't seen, but it would be a take off on the name: "Office" You could use the name Dr's Office so that when you get called you are at the Dr's. Office.

Funniest One I Saw

Was FUJIMO, owned by a gentleman who was getting divorced from his wife Jane. The name, while sounding asian, was actually an acronym for F**k U Jane I'm Moving Out.

We named ours

Victim of Fate Stolen from the lyrics of "A Pirate Looks at Forty". Did alot of searches on Boat Name sites and USCG Documented Vessels sites and found no other boats with that name. Caught alot of heat from the forums about using the word "Victim"!! I started calling her "Vicki" when I refer to her to try to make the Admiral jealous!!! It didn't work! Bill, GYPSY WIND

is on Dan Fogelberg's PHOENIX album. (1979) NOT Bob Seeger. Bob did write AGAINST THE WIND. (1980) Almost two of the same songs in that generation. Both really good. Wanna change your boat name? :)

I'm in the market as were . Colonial Beach
Spirit of Liberty

The Spirit of Liberty is the name of my Catalina 30. I liked the name when I bought it so I didn't change it. My previous boat was Bad Obsession (Hunter 22). There are two names that I like for future boats: La Vie Dansante (the dancing life and also a very good Jimmy Buffet song). The Dark Lady (very cool sea shanty).

Something meaningful...

Having 3 dogs, 2 of which are Beagles... My sailboat could only be named the "Barque n' Beagle".

Our Name is Antares

Our C25 is named Antares after star in the Scorpio Constellation. The previous owner is a scorpio and wanted a meaningful name. Not sure if we are going to change the name or not. The admiral is Itialian and would like something like: con il vento (with the wind). I have read several different processes to rename the boat so as to avoid bad luck. All involve alcohol in some form or another and pouring it in the water to honor neptune. HMMM...maybe renaming her is not such a bad idea after all.

Couple of women

on my dock own a 30ft Pearson, which they keep in very nice shape. They've given it a great name: "Witch Hazel" as both are Wiccans.

"Knot Knowing"

Great question...as I love seeing all the various boat names. I chose "Knot Knowing" for my boat because it's meaningful to me, and in some ways for others. It's actually a quadruple entendre (vs. double entendre). 1. Knowing Knots (speed over water) 2. Knowing Knots (tied with line) 3. A philisophical statement: The more I learn, the less I know...much of the time, I just "don't know"... 4. A former girlfried used to say, in answer to some questions: "I'm not knowing that." Best, Brad

Another name

I always liked the name "Jiggle the handle" fun and a bit blue collar...but I haven't had he guts to put it on my boat yet. I wish I was a plumber then it would be perfect.

boat name

Our first keelboat (a Catalina 250) was named "Blown Away" (for so many reasons) so when we moved up we wanted to keep some consistancy. Our Pearson 31 is now named "Far Away". We figure when/if we finally cast of the docklines & cruise for a while that we will name that boat "Run Away".

My Favorite

My favorite name was a Farr 40 racer I saw named "Barking Mad", which is of course a British colloquisim for being nuts or as my boss would say "off your trolley". I really liked it but when I floated it as the name for our new Capri 22 in our racing fleet, no one got it. They all thought it had something to do with dogs or my husband and I yelling at each other. I gave it up and went with "Social Hazard", which seemed very appropiate to me since I am one. After the Capri 22 we went with a 1985 Hunter 34 that came with the name "Jolly Swagman". At first I thought it was dumb and was going to change it but then I did some research and found out that the Swagman was a character from the song "Waltzing Matilda". A Swagman is a wanderer or traveler and he has a swag, where he carries his stuff. It seemed a great name then and I have never run across another boat with the same name. The best part was catching up with the original owner who was from Australia, which is why he chose the name and he was delighted we kept the name. Our newest acquistion, a Hunter Legend 40.5 came with the name Emmanuel, which means "God With Us" so I am going with it. However, two favorites my husband and I have tossed around for years are "Jealous Mistress" I saw it on a big power boat once or "Her Money" since it was my raise that got us the 40 footer.

S

Sine Nomine

In general my favorite name is "Panacea", however I was unable to come up with my own original name so I called my boat "Ameribritalia after my ethnicity/nationality, then I came to my senses and dedicated the name of my boat to my wifes prematurely departed mother, "Elly Ruth", made my wife happy.
