Last month Capt.Ron posted an article concerning Electric Shock Drowning, or, ESD. http://forums.sailboatowners.com/index.php?threads/electrical-shock-drowning-esd-fresh-water.179649/
For those of you who were following this thread, I posted that I thought this was important enough to post at the marina. Article was taken down by the DM. OK, I'll just talk to people personally. Having been there for almost twenty years, I know a lot of boat owners. After talking to about ten people, some stated they had a vague notion of this and others knew nothing at all. All thanked me for the info and some asked why I did not post this in the common area. Gave them a bit of a rundown on what had transpired between me and the DM after I initially posted the article. Well, the DM must have seen me talking to people and took it upon himself that I was maligning the marina, the pedestals in particular. He posted a notice on the office door that stated " A boat owner here is going around expressing his opinions about the pedestals. They have all been checked and no problems were found." The first sentence in this notice is, of course, a complete falsehood. He would not give me the chance to explain the situation, would not answer my calls, or acknowledge me in person. On Sat., I went to pay my rent. Would not talk to me except to say, "I talked this over with the owner and we think it best if we part ways." He then handed me my walking papers. After I paid my slip fee, of course. Not all is lost, however. I have a slip lined up, not as nice, but less than 4 miles from my house instead of the now 15 miles and next to the marina I captain out of. Just goes to prove the old adage: No good deed shall go unpunished.
