Here we go again. My nissan 9.8 2 stroke that never fit the transom cutout on my catalina 27 is broken.
Currently there is a t8 and t9.9 hi thrust from yamaha, as well as an f8 and f9.9 and a 2 stroke 9.9 from yamaha,
a 9.9 4 stroke from suzuki and a few models from honda.
The Nissan, Tohatsu, Mercury (all same) models 8 and 9.9 4 stroke will not fit. The 6 hp single cylinder should
It looks like on a spec sheet i could find that the yamaha t8 would fit. I have used 20" shafts to date.
Does anyone know if:
1) the yamaha t9.9 is same size as t8?
2) what if any of the above mentioned engines will fit the cutout?
3) what are pros/cons of 25" shaft.
4) Has anyone used the 6 hp nissan or equivalent to drive the c-27?
I do not want to modify the transom cutout and do not want to modify the rudder or go to great length to shim the engine mount further back to clear the rudder.
