Remember it is better to throw out a foot or two of hose because you bought too much than to throw out 8 feet becasue you needed 9

And OBTW, an extra foot of hose and a couple of over sized hose clamps can make an excellent "pipe patch" if you have an issue on any hose on the boat. I know that's Navy but... Us Air Force guys can learn too.

that hose has dry rot all about it. This is a reinforced hose and the rust is from the reinforcement. Replace the entire hose..

The last H420 we used 14' of Trident 252-3004 (3" wire reinforced corrugated hose) this will bend much easier than the stock hose. Not sure if this included the run from muffler to engine. Do yourself a favor and buy good hose clamps. ABA #48 non-perforated at the least.
