Engine/Drive train vibration

We seem to be having on=going problems with our 310 in relation to the prop shaft and possibly engine alignment. At reccommended cruising revs of about 2100 to 2500 rpm we get an unacceptable amount of noise and vibration. The dealer replaced the prop shaft with a stainless steel one and balanced the prop as well as aligning the prop shaft (the original shaft was damaged when a PSS shaft seal was fitted). The shaft seems to move about a bit relative to the shaft seal which by the way is leaking constantly spraying a small amount of water (I have cheched the adjustment of the seal several times). I suspect that the engine/shaft alignment might be out. Has anyone else had similar problems? Any advice would be most welcome. I'm also thinking of a 3 blade prop to replace the standard 15x10 two blade as a way of cutting down noise and vibration as we are doing a reasonable amount of motoring

310 Vibration

Our 310 (hull #61) has had vibration problems since it was first launched in April. Ours are worse at lower RPM's and tend to oscillate, rather than being a steady vibration. The engine revs smoothly when in neutral, so problem is obviously in the trans or shaft/prop area. Alignment has been checked and re-checked. Switching from a 2-bladed prop to a 3-bladed one has helped some, so I'll probably live with this until I haul her for the winter; then really go over the entire drive train.

Vibration

Malcom, We got a 2001 C36 this year and they had to re-allign the engine. It was out of square almost an inch.... Maybe it's time to have someone other than the dealer look at the allignment. Best of luck. Chris

Vibration

Are these all first boats? I have yet to see a boat under power, especially with a two blade prop, that doesn't rattle some doors, hatches, things in the sink, etc!

310 Vibration

Our 310 (#23) vibrates pretty heavily at aournd 600-800 RPM's, once above that range it is really pretty smooth.

No problem yet

Our 310 (Hull #51) also vibrates at very low engine PRM, but once you kick it up over 1000, there's no problem at all.
