Has anyone evver tried CLR calcuim/lime/rust remover to decale an engine? It works wonders on plumbing fixtures. I wonder if it would work on descaling an engine? Any ideas?
About once a year I pump vinegar into the cooling system when going out. Turn the engine off and let it slosh around while sailing. Seems to clean the system without hurting anything.
If you have hard water deposits and crap on the lower unit you might try toilet bowl cleaner. Lysol gel does a pretty good job of eating hard water crap off the lower unit of my kicker when I take her home for the winter...
Have tried repeatedly to get i touch with Marsolve to no avail. Too bad - sounds like a great product If we did not ask what was beyond the edge of the ocean we would spend eternity thinking the world was flat.
Don't screw around with home stuff as someone else said. Get some muriatic acid, take the intake hose loose at the strainer, ( don't forget to close the seacock ) and suck two gallons of muriatic into the engine. Let it stand for five minutes, reconnect the hoses and flush it out. Works like a charm, saves a lot of labor, and won't hurt a thing.
