I have a Cat-30 1990 with the Universal 25XP diesel, the alarm on the motor switch comes on after the motor reaches temps above 160 , I replaced the oil pressure switch, thinking that was the cause, but now it continues to go off if the RPM is less than 1600, when it is higher than 1600 RPM it turns off. Has anybody encounter this problem ???

domenech What's the engine temperature? Could also be the temp sender. Have you recently replaced the thermostat? How's the raw water impeller? Could be that when you're at higher rpms the engine is finally cooling itself. You'll need to trace the wiring and find out how your boat is wired before you start replacing more stuff, and find out what's causing the alarm. Stu

Overtemp alarm

Your model has an electronic gizzmo on the back of the temp gauge that senses resistance to the sending unit. Try taking it off and cleaning the connections. The last one I worked on had a crack in the circuit board that would intermittently short out and cause the alarm to sound. Not a very good system. I don't remember seeing it on newer models and certaiinly not on older ones.
