Well yesterday I threw out 2 anchors 45 deg off the stern (put them on the winch to set them hard, pulled them each tight enough to strum a tune on the anchor line and it was still holding firm, then eased a little so it could stretch with the waves), and new 1/2" 3 braid nylon lines attached to chains wrapped around the pilings on the other 3 corners of the boat. This held the boat centered in the slip (if I had another side of the slip to center on) and about 5'-6' off the dock in any direction. I then attached all the normal dock lines with snubbers on them as backups to the new lines attached to the pilings.
feel pretty good about the way I left her last night, even though I ended up going for a swim with my cell phone in my pocket when I tried to tight walk the dock line back to the boat for one final adjustment, so that part really sucks.
Just talked to the dock master, he is heading back to the marina now to see how things are looking now that we are pretty much through the worst of the weather. I may actually head down myself in about an hour once the eye has officially passed and the winds shift to come out of the west... looks like the winds are getting pretty calm at the moment...
