Electrical panel parts & labels

Maybe someone can save me some search time...

The electrical panel on our 1998 Hunter 376 has some incorrect labels I would like to replace. Some circuit breakers are not used, so would like to have blanks on those. Does anyone know a good source for replacement labels? They appear to be the same size as Blue Sea part 8030, but that doesn't give any options for what the labels say. Blue Sea only seems to list a standard set.

Also, a couple of the little indicator (yellow) lights on the panel are not working, so would like to get some spares for those. They appear to be the same as Blue Sea part number 8033. Can anyone verify that those will work?

Blue Sea or Paneltronics. I'm sure others will have some ideas, too.

Have you considered doing a Google search on "boat electrical panels?" Shouldn't be too burdensome. :)

You could also look at Defender and West Marine online.

Lots of folks have reported using Radio Shack for replacement indicator lights.

Good luck.

WM has the labels, yes there are only "standard sets" since I'm not sure how they would print them on sight with your special verbiage. With that said I know of at least one salty sailor that redid the panel in wood and using transparencies and a printer put the boat name, special verbiage on the CBs and a host of fancy swirls and artwork onto the wood before sealing it.

Ditto what HMT2 said. I have an older Brother similar to the D300. It works great. The labels are durable, fade-resistant, and adhere very well. A variety of fonts and borders are available, so you can create very professional-looking labels. I've used it to make labels for my breaker panel, wiring, and control lines. A very useful product!

Another option -- see the attached photo.

- From your local stationary store buy a sheet of color matching cardboard and a white pen,
- Do a reasonable attempt at duplicating your existing panel's font with your best grade school block letter penmanship,
- Use a spell checker so you don't spell something like GAUGE as GUAGE as I did,
- Spray several very light "wispy" coats of flat or egg-shell spray can clear lacquer or clear fast dry polyurethane to make your label water and dirt resistant,
- Use a sharp exacto knife and straight edge to cut each label to size,
- Use double-sided clear tape to affix to your existing panel's surface (sail maker's type works well).

Blue Sea Systems has a huge selection of off-the-shelf switch labels for $2 each, and will make matching custom labels for $5 each with no minimum order. Check their web site.

Plaque supplier

I had the DC Master label made by an on-line supplier of plaques. It can be ordered in any size or color for not much cost.

You could overlay the existing labels.

My wife gave me one of the Brother labelers as HMT2 suggests. I use black tape that makes white letters and it is perfect ! I finally got "Emergency Beacon" labeled as 12V Accessory.. ! Many choices of font and size..

Blue Sea does have a remarkable variety of parts. But my electrical panel has no brand ID of any kind (except the Hunter logo).

Though the breakers in my panel say Airpax, everything seems to be interchangeable with Blue Sea parts. Luckily my local store had these parts so I could verify they actually fit without having to order them.
