electric upgrade

I was just given a 1500 watt inverter and two gel cell batteries (hey Christmas came early). I was looking for suggestions on installation (location) and would welcome any thoughts from anybody who has already accomplished this task. I have a standard rig 1977 Cat 27. Thanks!

To heel or not to heel, is this the question?

Keep the inverter close to the batteries. You will loose less voltage. Also use largest wire you can! I installed 4 batteries and did not think of the weight.4 X 77 lbs = 308 LBSIt kinda made her list alittle!Keep weight centered and in a cool dry area.Just learned from my experience.Enjoy the new AMPS!

Hey Sean - You are welcome to come check out my installation anytime. I am in slip 708 at Anderson Mill. I bought Jim's old Catalina 27. I would recommend the two batteries on the port side. How heavy is the inverter? If its more than 75lbs, I would think about putting it on the starboard side under the settee with wiring runs crossing the ceiling of the engine compartment. This should avoid list. I have both batteries on the starboard side, and no inverter. I also have no list with normal fuel aboard. Go figure.
