hi, i'm a new boat owner and just purchased a new Beneteau 323. The pump in the head had been working fine until this morning, and after showering this morning the water wouldn't drain. the pump started to make a whinier noise - not sure if this meant the hose would possibly be blocked or if the pump is damaged (already?).. any ideas or thoughts? the valve is open, and there's nothing that should have been able to get in to the drain that could have clogged it thanks!

sounds like a blocked line
Time to trace the lines and disconnect the line to the pump and see if any water exits.If not, its either empty or clogged.Just trace the lines and keep disconnecting until you find the clog. It's there . If not clogged, the pump is malfunctioning. Good luck and keep us updated.I'd call the dealer and ask them. After all the boat is new,right? Keep it up, Ctskip

I believe that the shower drain is connected to the icebox drain. Try to see if the valve under the icebox is open, and if so, close it and the shower drain will work.

haven't checked yet, but the reason why i don't think the drain is clogged is because i've used the shower two times now, and my hair is about 1 inch long (and no hair has ever accumulated in my shower at home)

type of pump?
I don't know what type of pump is on your system, but I would bet it's a good chance the impellor is gone, should be an easy,although messy fix. Impellors are cheap. MG
