Tim Check the Boat US web site

We had ours surveyed when we purchased but that was below annapolis. I have a name there but I would check the Boat US website they have a list of surveyors they recomend for Maryland. By the way, we are also are at Sailing Associates.

Thanks Rob

I am a Boatus member. I called Jack Hornor and I will try and get him to do a survey if it goes that far. Do you know anything about an Ericson 34 named Perseverance? How is the yard? Anything I should be aware of? I am planning on going down this weekend. Are there any decent places to stay between Georgetown and Wilmington? Thanks Tim R.

Hey Tim

Tim the best place to stay if your going down is the Kitty knight house. The rooms are nice, price is good and the location is perfect for your boat stay, its 100 yards across the harbor from Sailing Associates. http://www.kittyknight.com The owners of Kitty also own a B&B called the Anchorage which is a little further out of town (still on your way) but also very nice. Then there are a few B&Bs in Chesapeake City Md that would also serve well. http://www.bedandbreakfast.com/chesapeake-city-maryland.html As far as the Yard, They are very Good. They have done some major work on our boat such as repower, electrical, some refig work ect. All done to code and with no problems, My only thorn is that billing takes forever. Other than that I would trust them for all work. The marina and the owners, Patty and Patrick are the nicest people you could ask for and the facilities are always clean, the pool is great and the people at the marina are all friendly. Weve been there for 4 years and plan on staying alot longer. As far as the Ericson 34 Im sorry as I havent seen it and dont have much experience with Ericsons. We will be down at the Boat on Saturday and if you walk the docks we are in the last slip, port side, left dock. slip 18 I belive. We have a 46' Morgan "Leviosa", with a grey plastic tarp over the whole boat. Are you bringing her back to main or are you keeping her in maryland? When you get there You will probably speak with Less, he is the sales rep... great guy and a trip. Good Luck, Rob

Anchorage Inn

Unfortunately the Kitty Knight is closed for a couple of weeks for renovations but we did get a room at the Anchorage. We will probably eat at the Grannery for dinner. Sounds like a brew house(I hope). I am glad to hear the good reviews on both the marina and Les. Les is already 100 times better than any other broker I have had the displeasure to speak with. Most are very unreponsive and somewhat rude. I have also been speaking with Pam. She has been very helpfull and I look forward to meeting her. We will be down there on Saturday around 2:30 or 3:00. After we are done maybe we will take a walk over to meet you. Yes, the gray tarp. It sounds like all the boats there have one of these ;). We will return to Maine if we buy her. Of course this is just the first step of the buying process. Next comes the survey. Besides, I cannot imagine not being able to walk out of work down to the waterfront to catch a launch out to my boat to go for an evening sail. Tim R.

Hunter 34 North East, MD
Local Surveyor

Tim, you might find a local surveyor I've used to be a little more reasonable than having Jack Horner come up from Annapolis. Jack's got a good reputation but I've used a fellow named Art Johnson, Art Johnson Marine Surveys out of Rising Sun, MD for my past two boats at the recommendation of others and been very satisfied. Art isn't that far up 213 from Georgetown, so his travel fee will probably be reasonable. He can be reached at 410-658-3994. His cell is 443-553-3228. He sold Hunters for a local dealer at one time and is very knowledgeable about sailboats, especially older Hunters. If you can't find a spot to stay in Georgetown, give North Bay Bed & Breakfast in North East a call. The Appletons are sailors, trainers, riggers, and probably a few other things to boot. My neighbor has stayed there and had nothing but high praise for their B&B. S/V Intrepid H34 #113

The deal fell through

It turns out that Yachtworld lists this boat as having a 6'2" draft. Knowing it was on the bay, I called to confirm and it turns out that it is a shoal draft keel which kills it for me. I need the deep keel. Tim R.
