I use vertical (kind of) OCF dipoles. Absent the need for a counterpoise, I never saw the need for an RF ground. No RF 'bites' so far.:naughty:
Not sure if you have a metal toe rail on your Lancer but I have had some success using the metal toe rails as a counterpoise on a friend's Jeanneau 46. I also used the lifelines as a counterpoise on another friend's installation. Both configs seemed to work well.Phantom, the 100sqft was more of a tongue-n-cheek kind of thing. I have read what Mr. West has to say on that.
Right now I have nothing but the vertical dipole. But I really want to run an alternate backstay antenna to the top of the mast. I am thinking of using both the KISS-SSB and a connection to either a Dynaplate or thru hull. Which ever one is available.
