I'm doing a restoration on a MacGregor 23 and want to drop and remove the keel to inspect it and refinish with epoxy. Is there a good source of info for doing this safely? written\DVD? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Short answer: carefully...
did the same on a McGregor Venture 222
I built a cradle on a motorcycle hoist ,
Removed keel bolt and dropped keel in cradle with the keel cable still attached.
- this prevented the keel from falling sideways after out - then I released cable.
Installing worked the other way round - Got it in place with help of keel cable - then used hoist to get it into position - so I could re- insert keel bolt
Somehow it worked - but not a fun job.
Make sure cradle is sturdy enough -so that keel doesn’t fall over once it is completely out of the keel trunk

Ditto re the part about keeping it from falling over sideways. I learned the hard way how much fun wrestling it back onto my inadequately stabilized dolly wasn't. I think there's some good information about keel rehabbing on $tingy $ailor.
