An "Arrival"
Once we are secure at the dock or at anchor and everything has been stowed, the call always goes out for an "Arrival". The captain a V/T and mate a Corona light. It seldom varies, but it always waits for the "Arrival" call. Our beverage of choice underway is H2O.

Ice Water
Nothing but water for me. I think we are the only dry boat in our harbor. (and apparently many others)

but I do like Greenbean juice. I have grown found of the juices in the small bottles. Been trying to cut down on alcohol because it has empty calories, slows down the matabalism, and makes you hungry too. When I say screw it, I reach for the one and only Shinerbock beer, made in Shiner Texas. I love Ross's idea of freezing water in bottles to use as coolant and also a drink when it's melted. That's awesome.

Rum and ? 
I am glad to see so many sailors are holding up the age old tradition of drinking rum. I have to confess that I am losing my taste for booze in general. Used to be I would grab a Silver Bullet as soon as the anchor hit bottom. Tis such a serious breach of protocol I have begun to try different Rum drinks. I enjoy a true daquari made with 151 rum and fresh limes. But I am looking for other rum recipes so feel free to e-mail me your favorite Barry C

Pussers Rum - "sandy bottoms"
When the Brits took their last tot of Pussers after the Faulkland Battle, history soon changed. Pussers Rum was the original rum served on all British War ships for over a century. I tried Pussers years ago while in the Virgin Islands and its unique taste appealed to me. I can see why a tot of Pussers calmed before battle! Forget the Captain!! Pussers and Coke over ice refreshes me at anchor... "Sandy Bottoms" Bob

Malibu Rum
At home I drink vodka, but when we are on the boat, we drink Malibu Rum. It is easy, quick, and tasty. We buy boxed fruit juices, like mango, papaya, etc. Put together some ice cubes, juice, and a big shot of Malibu. Sit back, swinging on the hook, and enjoy.

Some say it's a girlie drink, so I don't say it very loud when I want one. I usually have it with Coke since I'm addicted to that stuff, too. A Corona with lime is always my favorite, too, in the warm sun, when the boat is on the hook and I'm wearing my straw hat (to keep my bald head from sunburning). I was curious about the Buffalo Milk drink. When I tried the link, my access was denied. I am at work so I have to be careful what I open! Spring is around the corner, now! I am looking forward to just the scenerio we are talking about!

Blue Martinis or Single malt while waiting for the steaks to cook and a good wine with dinner. For celebrations a shot of "Nelson's Blood" (Pusser's Rum) hits the spot. Blue Martini. 1 part each Tanqueray Silver vodka and gin + six drops of blue Curacao. Twist of orange peeel. Can be premixed at home.

Cold beer or hard lime/lemonade
Even though I'll crack a beer or two while underway, I can't really enjoy them because I'm too busy steering, watching for other boats or looking up at the Windex. And if I let someone else steer, I'm too bosy trimming sails. So, I really enjoy a beer or malt beverage after we're tied up to the dock but before we stow the sails. As for rum, I only indulge when we raft up with other boats or at night at anchor.

Believe it or not - in hot summer weather I like nothing more than an ice cold can of Schmitz. Its gotta be really cold, right from icey water in the bottom of the box. For boating, I prefer the cans with salmon on the label to the ones with deer or bearsSchmitz is my sure sign of summer. The rest of the year, I drink IPA's, Pike Place or Bidgeport.

After we drop the hook or tie up at the dock I smash some ice and mix Mount Gay Rum with pineapple juice and a generous wedge of lime. The first time I drank this was many years ago in Jamaica, and the rum was probably Appleton's. But after participating in a few Mount Gay regatta's in Barbados it's been Mount Gay ever since.

I like Smirnoffs Vanilla Vodka in that Orange Creme drink or with ginger ale. Pussers or Cap. Morgan's with ginger ale is cool and refreshing. The First Mate likes Bloody Marys any time of the day or night. With dinner that Aussie YellowTail Shiraz is good.
