for a 1983 C-30 and the length. I would like to buy a new one. The one on my boat is looks to be too big in diameter for the sleeves in the blocks. Also right up off the traveler the first block has two sleeves where as the one on the tech drawings has one, the tech drawings one looks as though it is for a C-30 1987 or newer boat so I can not tell if mine has been altered.

I have seen this site however it does not

tell me what size line or how long. I can get the information but it will require me taking off the line that it on there or a block or something. -CW

Sems to be there

Chip The referenced page says: Mid ship traveller mainsheet, dacron: 7/16" x 72'-0", (1). Seems pretty clear, or am I missing something? If you've got something different on your boat, as you mention, how can we help measure it for you here on the internet? Stu

mainsheet

Use your old one to figure out the correct length. I did away with the last block(the single block coupled to the fiddle: by the diagram)it kept getting twisted and would bottom out on the boom block. 7/16 is plenty big.

OK you are correct the specks are there.

I was looking at a different link. I included the link. Thanks for the info. What I am talking about is the last block. Mine has two sleeves, not one. I thought this may be a standard upgrade people do to the main sheet. For now I will replace the mainsheet line and sail it more before I decide what to do if anything with the blocks. Thanks for the help. -CW

Specs and More...C30 Mainsheet (not the magazine!)

Chip Why not try taking a digital camera and walking the docks? Or just sketch thm out. When you see either another C30 or another boat that has something like your blocks setup, take some pictures. Then you'll see how different things work. It's unclear when you say two sleeves. There aren't sleeves on blocks. Is it a fiddle block or are the sheaves side by side. Terminology, regardless of what some would say, does (sorta) help out here. Stu

A general rule of thumb for mainsheets and

halyards is twice the length of the boat plus 10 feet. Or so I've heard. Seems to work.
