I am trying to find a source for a dodger for my Capri 26. Presently all I have is bimini which is somewhat unwieldly to use while sailing and want to add a dodger instead. If anyone knows where I can find such a beast I would be appreciative. Thanks, Fair winds and calm waters, Michael

GOOD DODGER

If you feel able consider a "sailrite" dodger kit. They are very professionally done with excellent instructions. Go to www.sailrite.com for the info. Good Luck

Island Nautical right here

I just ordered a dodger for my boat right here on CatalinaOwners.com. I'll let you know how the installation goes and how I like it. Best of luck, Trevor

Dodger

Try http://www.gencomarine.com/index.htm I've had one of their dodgers and was very happy with it. I like them better than the Island nautical.

Custom

In my area (northern CA) most sailors have their dodgers custom made by a local marine canvas shop. I'm not sure of the relative economics, but I'm sure that nothing you'd mail order would fit as well as a custom made dodger. There are a lot of variables to consider in properly fitting a dodger. One thing I did was to have mine made with a full cover that fits over the whole dodger (top, front and sides)instead of the usual snap-on window covers. The additional material cost was offset by the labor savings. There was no cost difference and this way I protect the entire dodger from sun damage, not just the windows.
