We're having trouble with our new slip. In our old slip, we didn't have things like currents. We also had a wider slip. Where we're at now, it's 14' wide (we're 13' 4") and have nasty cross-currents. I've setup a harness for the slip to keep the bow from swinging into our neighbor.
We dock on the port side, and pull bow in to the slip. Getting out of the slip, the current seems to accentuates the prop walk and swing the bow to starboard (into our neighbor - hence the harness). As a result we end up dragging along the dock trying to get out of our slip.
Pulling into the slip, our procedure is usually forward spring, bow and stern lines. Here, though, I have trouble angling into the slip so that we don't end up using the dock as a bumper...
Our neighbors have offered to help, which is nice... but we would like to learn to do this on our own in case no-one's about. So any suggestions??
THANKS!
