Dock Find
So I'm just floating around and I see a boat that I'm not familiar with laying at a private dock in Buford Georgia. It's a Sovereign Antares 7 meter. Tied up for a couple of years who would think. Walked up the dock and knocked on the door and asked the good Doctor if it was for sale. Take it for a sail and if you like it you can have it.
The gift being in the water for 9 years I think maybe I take any project money set aside and see a psychiatrist. Being one and forced into the dilemma of a free ham sandwich I motor sail the boat to the boatyard at Aqualand.
It turns out in the end to be a scenario similar to finding a good dog at the pound. Two weeks in the yard, back in the water cleaned up with a refinished bottom, a rub down and though the paint and novelty inevitably wares off some finds turn out OK.
Sovereigns though heavy are (were) seemingly stable, well equipped and well built little boats.
Bottom before and after.
