I have owned my 1988 tall masted 30 for over a year now and its obviously comes up short for reaching the top of the mast by a foot or so. At first thought the main was designed for both rigs, but then I have the original sail and although the leech is a bit stretched, I have just accepted this sail as normal. Its time I learned the real truth!! thanks Bob Georgia

The short answer ....

...is yes, that's normal. Click on the link then click on banding specifications, then read section B.#5

Thanks Richard

Appreciate the data, but I must admit that the sail looks funky heaved up to one foot or so below the top of the mast. I thought that I had an issue with the sail being so old at first and a boom-gooseneck height adjustment might be in order. Someone did think that the main sail bolt rope that runs up into the sleeve on the mast "shrunk" and required replacement! Bob

Yes

I have a 1988 C30 and the sail is short of the mast head by a foot or so.I moved my boom up six " or so .I needed the room for a bimini but the toping lift rubed on the sail and started to chafe real bad I had a duchmen toping lift. Now i have a gauher ridged vang and acustom FB main sail that starts 3" down from the top of the mast head. With the boom in the origanal spot on the mast and the sail tapered to clear the bimine and doger. John
