I just re-read the C34 chainplate

post and agree that it would be better if the sealant were only applied on the outside, and that knowing if there were water coming through is the BEST indicator of the need to rebed. Thanks for pointing that out.

not a hard repair

I had some soft deck around the chain plates on my boat that I fixed myself. If done properly no one is going to know that a pro didn't do them. It was easy, enjoyable work but it is dirty grinding away all the old glass. The biggest tips I can give is to make sure if you have core material in there that you go past the bad stuff other wise the rot will continue. Take your time, every step effects the next. Use the same type core material that you removed. Most importantly remember a day working on your boat is always better than a day working in the office!
