Gig Harbor dinghy for our Cat 30
Mark,We also have the 10ft Gig Harbor for our Cat 30, Purrin. She (Kitten) is a light tow and is a delight to row. In the future we plan rigging her for sailing.Once anchored, we enjoy pleasant evenings rowing the anchorage or taking the golf clubs ashore for a quick round. When time is too short at home to for sailing, we enjoy rowing around the marina and adjacent waters. She tows well in steep seas having crossed the Straits of Juan de Fuca with a buildup of waves and swell. If the wind goes to Gale or above, she can be secured to the fore deck. The heavy jib and storm jib for the Cat 30 are cut high enough to tack without the dinghy fouling the sail.Over the winter we store Kitten hoisted to the ceiling of our garage above the cars. Her beam is 4ft, so she fits in a Ford Expedition for the ride home.We live near the Gig Harbor builder, have visited his production site and talked at length with him. He started building dinghy's because he couldn't find one on the market he liked. So he developed dinghys suiting his needs for easy towing and rowing. As you may have surmised, we like our Gig Harbor dinghy.
