I’m surprised I have not come across a manual regarding the rigging on my boat. I am a newbie sailor and I need to see the basic layout of what goes to what. Anyone?
Good plan to find someone at the marina to go over the operation of all the lines. Once you get instruction on the purpose of each line you will quickly be off sailing. Are you referring to removing the mainsail foot out of the track resulting in a loose foot? You can read more about the advantages and disadvantages in this link Loose Foot vs. Attached Mainsail (fxsails.com) You can do a search on this forum to find threads like these discussing the benefits of a loose footed mainsail Mainsail, Loose / Fixed foot? | Sailboat Owners Forums and Loose footed mainsail? | Sailboat Owners Forums..........I probably need to find someone at the marina to go over all the lines with me. In addition, a slip neighbor who is a Hunter 30 owner said to take the mainsail foot out of the track. Yes? No?
I don’t think just taking the foot out of the track makes it a loose-footed main. Seems like a lot of loose material just flopping around.
You will need to modify OR replace the mainsail as discussed in these threads:I don’t think just taking the foot out of the track makes it a loose-footed main. Seems like a lot of loose material just flopping around.
