Block Island tips
Richard,Just got back from Block myselfin my H260 and have made the trip several times, including in a Catalina 22. Here's a few pointers:1. Get yourself an Eldridge's tide book. The tide will help you a bit, but it's not crucial. 2. You can exit the eastern end of Fisher's Island Sound through either Lord's Passage or Watch Hill Passage. Chose one, but don't go in between, because there's a reef that's become the final port of call for many a ship.3. Go to New Harbor on the west side of Block Island. The Great Salt Pond has plenty of space for anchoring and good holding. There's also Block Island Boat Basin which has transient slips, gas, pumpout and I believe it has a launch service. It's only a short walk or cab ride to town in Old Harbor. Old Harbor is really cramped and has no services. 4. There's a restaurant in New Harbor too, at the boat basin. If I can help in any way or if you have more questions, e-mail me: zigracer@aol.comGregAny other questions you
