Of course it had to happen. This little depression named Lee, is just sitting out there barely moving. Probably won't amount to much, maybe. Weather channel says it could possibly become a Cat. 1 before it is done. Problem is I'm sitting in Dallas, 600 miles away. Boat is not only not prepared, but is also tarped right now. So instead of spending an enjoyable weekend in Dallas, getting to meet Ctsip, and visiting some more family, I'm gonna head my butt towards New Orleans in the morning. Gonna be a lovely drive with all this rain they are predicting. Biggest fear is if this turns into much, they may evacuate, and I won't be able to get there at all. I think the people in New Orleans will pull the trigger on evacuation at the slightest hint of a Cat.1 storm.

Phillip, this TS Lee could be as wet as Camile. We were in the James river basin in those days and Richmond VA had water 20 feet above flood stage from rain water not storm surge. Be sure to roll the windows up before you make the drive and stay safe.

water expected to be 3-4 ft higher at tonight's hi tide

Hey Nice,

I just got back from my boat at LBH on the Coast and the winds are around 15-20 mph, pushing water levels higher. Expecting a 3-4 ft extra high tide around 3am tonight.

Boat is tied down with extra line, bilge is working, loose ends tidied up. Will check it in the morning to see how high tide treated it.

Let us know if you make it or not. Doesn't look like enough to evac NOLA to me, despite the gun-shy sentiments these days. Are you in Oak Harbor?

It appears to be a very wet storm of the sort that we got in Harford county last week. That one took down many trees and shut the lights off for about half of the homes and businesses for several days. I am more concerned about flooding than wind damage.

For LBH mates...
One of the charter boat owners says the harbor will not issue evac orders now because they cant order people out in dangerous weathers. Harbor personell are making regular rounds keeping an eye on things and in the past call owners if they see issues with specific boats. At least they have in the past so I expect they will still do that.

Checking on things in a bit.

I went to my boat before daylight this morning to get a few things prepared. The water was up about 3 feet and the rain was relentless. Everything is secured now. Gusts on the lake are expected to reach about 60 mph.

Long Beach Harbor update:

Winds about on par with weather sites, about 25-30 steady with 40-45 gusts. Tide was up about 4 ft last night, putting it over the piers over the fuel dock. Funny, there are a bunch of concrete blocks strewn all about thr south parking lot by the fishing pier-- waves pushed some of the riprap over the edges and up onto the parking lot.

Harbor patrol is checking on boats every hour and adjusting lines if they see problems. Thank em when your there next.

A public thank you, JonnyQuest, for checking my boat specifically and reporting back all is well. I went down yesterday and secured all, but was concerned about the amount of water given the limited cockpit drainage. Also the lines with a narrow slip. I am 1 1/2 hrs away. You are a true gentleman. Thank you! As long as I have a cold beer, you have a cold beer waiting on you! Ha. Peace.

I rode out hurricane Ida on the boat in 2009 and the water got over the docks about 2 hrs before daylight, so I had a general point of reference...

Glad to be of service, Loose Diamond! Here's what things look like at LBH right now. Rain is simply drizzling to heavy downpour. The breaker walls are prohibiting any chop in the harbor, little bit of wave action from wind driven water, but not much else. Wind is constant out of the SE, pushing all the boats towards that quarter of their slips. None looked to be in trouble from what I saw.

Enjoy the photos:

Nearly a dud

So far has been nearly a dud here. Most of the rain I drove in was between Shreveport and LaFayaette. A couple really hard rains between Baton Rouge and Slidell. Boat is fine. Dry inside. Tarps even still in place. Water about 18" over the dock, and latest I heard was another foot. Most of the winds seem to be farther east. Just hard rain off and on so far.

Nice: glad to hear you made it back in time for the fun. Quite windy over here, hwy 90 is a real mess with strong winds, driving rain, standing water, etc. Water not over the docks yet, but just below them as of midnight. High tide around 4 am tonight. Will check on things on our end in the morning.

Mr. Lee is lifting slightly north finally.. I see the wind slowing and edging ever so slightly toward the south. Looks like the water level has quit rising so much.. I was hoping that it would head west to Austin/central Texas to provide a little rain out there, but the thing looks to be heading northeast later today..
