Blah.....Just install a gun deck on your boat and turn it into a man of war. A few broadsides and they will run for cover.
Please don't tell us to quit sailing; that's not going to happen. I'm not interested in trying to defend myself with a converted flare gun or bang stick; we are talking about 2 or more armed attackers, in a boat, bobbing up and down. Molotov cocktails are pretty impractical, as well.

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, SC (WTOC) - The Beaufort County Sheriff's Office is looking for a gunman in connection with an assault that occurred at a Hilton Head marina early Tuesday morning.
Just before 1:30 a.m., deputies responded to Shelter Cove Marina on a report of shots fired and a woman screaming for help. A 26-year-old woman said told deputies that her husband had been shot.
The man had a head injured, but had not been shot, according to the sheriff's office. He was lying on the ground in the pavilion area. They told deputies that they were sitting on the boat, drinking and listening to music when an armed man came aboard.
The suspect put a gun to the man's head. The couple told deputies that they heard the gun go off. It's believed that the gun may have gone off when the man was being pistol-whipped, according to the sheriff's office. The suspect ran toward the parking lot.
The victim was taken to Hilton Head Medical Center for treatment and has since been released, according to the sheriff's office.
The motive for the attack is not yet known. The suspect is described as a black male between 21 and 25 years old who was wearing a black shirt and black hat, according to the sheriff's office.
