Organizer Backing Plates

After I replaced my sheaves last week, I noticed that a neighbor's C34, probably an 87 or 88, has screws, rather than bolts. My organizers are stacked (a 2 above a 3 on each side) and are right on top of the fiberglass pad on the deck. My neighbor has not stacked his, and one is on the pad and the other is on the deck. Having not been inside his boat, I do not know if the "non-pad" screws are screwed through and backed. I doubt if there is another built in backing plate in any other place other than under the pad.Best suggestion I can offer is to use an impact screwdriver to get the screws out, and perhaps use some screwdriver helper (available in the West Marine catalog or probably a hardware store) to avoid killing the screw heads. A little (or a lot) of liquid wrench would also be an idea. You may also want to talk to Garhauer about seeing if they can get you the bolts, to replace the screws, to avoid this problem in the future. The bolt heads take a 7/16 inch rachet drive and are easier to work with than screws, as you've found out. It did take some doing to get them started on their way out.Good luck,Stu
