i need to find a deck fill cap (diesel) for my cat 270 - can anyone help me with this?

Haven't found 'em at West Marine

I have needed a new waste cap for my 1982 C27 for awhile. The size is in between what West carries. I can't figure that out. I don't want to have to install a new deck mount just to get a new cap.

Had same problem with "in-between" size and didn't want to undertake removal of fill pipe...went to plumbing supply store and found excellent (albeit not identical) cap...works fine, looks good...for $6.00.

I had a deck fill cap crack a couple of years ago. I found a nylon plug at Home Depot that cost a couple of dollars. It did the trick, but it didn't look pretty, and it wasn't flush with the deck.I eventually called the Catalina parts department. They sent me a new one for about $20.

deck cap "O" rings

Yearly I check the "O" rings on all my deck caps for cracks and wear. If you ever wounder why soapy suds end up in a tank or water in the fuel? The "O" rings do fail and when you wash the boat or it rains real jard you can get water in the tanks. Dave
