more interested in ft myers

I don't know the area, Ft. Myers. It's one of the few places in Fla. that I didn't visit. My job skills are varied. Real varied. I've had more different jobs than you have bikini's. So what is the market like down there job wise? I have a 37'er, how's the anchoring or docking situation? What is sailing like in that area? I have a 4' draft. I won't be coming down this year. but if things go right. I found a girlfriend up here that is firmly cemented to Cleveland, I think, so there is always a place to stay if I return for a visit or stay. ANd I can keep my other boats at a friends house, and they are both on trailers. Would I be better off keeping the water condo up here and taking the 20'er to Fla.? Or the opposite. Yeah, I'd have to rent a place down there if I took the 20'er down, but it wouls most likely balance out with tte dock fees I'd wouldn't have to pay.

sorry Brian.... Boat Babe - No Tan Lines, Ey?

Well what can I say about you cat people..(at least you like your little companions).... You know, your story has made me seriously reconsider taking our young Spencer aboard the Cousin Larrrrry. Though he's been sitting and waiting patiently for me to take him along.. How long did it take your little friend to get used to being on EP? -Sean p.s. I like the short hair as well as the long hair & 2004 was a very good year... :)

Our Cat Fell Overboard

We took our cat to the boat and he managed to fall overboard. Fortunately we were tied to the dock at the time. He crawled up onto a beam under the dock and we heard him crying. I managed to get him back wet but unhurt. While sailing he hid below acting scared. We left him at home after that trip. He was an older cat and maybe the boat was just too new.

Hello to you boat (pun intended), I'm just reading about the log you are posting and everyone's good comments my question would be where do you post? do you actually have a web site? Finally are you really cruising on a 25'5'boat? Sorry if this is the thousand time you have to answer this question, or if this is a post for friends and familly only. Cheers, a. Tortugas Vs Bahamas

Hello again Again I would like to say thanks to both of you for sharing you adventures. You posted some really nice photos! Even the ones with just the island or the boat. *666 I see from your post that you perfer the Tortugas. I can't say that I blame you. From looking at some of the links to the Tortugas it really does look nice. As far as the history goes, I know that it was first use as a Fort and then as a prison with it's most famous inmate Dr Samuel Mudd. I still would like to know wich one was more challenging as far as sailing is concerned. From what I'm told the boat has to be set up not to discharge any GREY WATER. I'd be coming from Port Canaveral so the distance to the Torugas vs the Bahamas is considerably more, even coming across the Okeechobee river. Like the other guy I find it hard to believe that you have that much room on that 25.5, but I guess you do. I'd say that comes from good planning Well, I hope you find the time to get back to the end of the story. We can wait. *zzz Good luck to you both

Hey Peggy, Good on you for that answer. But just don't include the ladies. We men get the same treatment when we get a little long of tooth. Phil

reinforced rudder and misc.

Hi Brian, Steph (boat babe), First: WoW, your cruising pictures are breath taking, Thank you! Please keep the story coming! If I can suggest a topic, it would be very interesting to have the story of how you chose, found and modified your 25 ft cruiser, or is this already posted somewhere? Finally after reading about the re-enforcement you did on the rudder post, I would like to relate a short story to everyone. A few years back a member of our yacht club left Toronto Canada for Florida with his trawler, on the ICW the prop hit something and he was forced to haulout. The prop needed work, the shaft was bent and the supporting strut that extend from the hull to the shaft was broken. The owner requested that the yard not only replace but substantially re-enforce the strut,in order never to bend a 14ft stainless steel tapered expensive shaft. This despite the yardmaster's advice. A few months later they apparently hit ground again, the strut did not break but new shaft bent anyway and the boat ended up sinking the few feet in was floating in when the re-enforced strut went throught the hull instead of breaking off. I thought I would share this story simply because the work done on your rudder post seems very sturdy. Have you considered a rudder that could pivot if it hit the ground? I saw a pocket cruiser who had the following: The aft part of the rudder had a large bolt the forward part had a pin (shear pin, sacrificial pin?) design to break upon impact, in that event the rudder would pivot on the aft bolt. Just a thought. Thx for the great stories, and pictures! Cheers, a.
