Mack Sails is the largest loft making sails in the USA and are very competitive in price and only use Challenge Marblehead cloth. We're happy.

I am a vendor to them...

Boatless ! 26 Ottawa, Ontario
I purchased sails from Martin at Somerset Sails and was very pleased, so have several of my friends. They are all made in USA and made for your boat the way you sail it. Not something off the shelf. The price may be much less than you expect. Call him on the phone, works much better than email. He also has an ebay store for new and used sails. He might be able to recut a used sail for you if you are a real tight budget.

Sail Quality

I have bought sails from Mack and Rolly Tasker. I am pleased with both but note that Tasker sails come at different levels. The off shore Taskers are well built and will last for a long time. The Mack sails are very stout and price competitive with off shore brands. Many sail makers have their sails made offshore although they are U.S. branded. Ask where the sail loft is located. Many quality sails are made in countries othe than the U.S.. The questions I would address is what type of sailing I will be doing, how long will I have the boat and how often do I sail. When I purchase my next set I will go with Mack. Check out their web site if you want a quick tutorial on sails.

As one of the friends ;) I'll second that. We bought sails for the Mac from Martin and also got a sail for the Endeavour from him. Call him...

.... and at least get a bid on one from him. He will take his time and make recommendations based on your needs. Since Bob put us on to him we have put others onto him that have been happy also.

If you like old motorcycles/cars that can lead to interesting conversation also,

Sum
