Why not a multihull? No one will touch you head to head, except for another multihull. My project boat, a Telstar 28 trimaran, is trailerable, and it has been sailed at 18 kts... A Corsair will go above 20... Stiletto has new cats that will foil...
I love monohulls, but why not go for top speed regardless of the number of hulls? Plenty of multihulls are trailerable. Perhaps they do not have the same interior room?

How is the wind up in Bayfield? I like the Elan but with the wide aft section and twin rudders it might be stuck to the water in the light airs of the Great Lakes.
If you do go forward I certainly can help with logistics in Cleveland and the sail/motor back through Lake Huron. Tons of experience in Lake Erie, the motor up the Detroit and St. Clair Rivers and the sail up the length of Lake Huron to Mackinac Island.

Fair question.
1) Room
2) Ones that you can cruise are not much faster than monohulls.
3) Dock space
4) Racing is out.

I can be light, and so yes; beamy boats with non-overlapping rigs can suffer. But a Code 0 helps.

I'm crushed at work but still working some angles. Got a Elan 350 I'm hoping to look at next week in Marseille. Also one (that was owned by the designer) in Croatia. Part of the reason I just got my ICC!

@agprice22 , most cruising cats would not be keeping up with this!

Right, most cruise cats would, but you are not looking for a cruiser... a comparably racy cat or tri, say a Dragonfly, would keep up... and then pass it. ;)
Those other issues certainly make a tri or cat non-starters. And I get it. I love monohulls for all their great qualities, and they are getting better by leaps!
I am still gonna take my trimaran out and pass everyone in spite of having no phrf number! ;)

Hold the phone! Sail magazine has a story about the new Figaro Beneteau 3... foiler! Oops... available for the low, low price of $450k... ouch.

Ok... they also have a GForce Yachts (Netherlands) Edge 32... only $140,000... is that more in line?

Both are racers.

That is rarely recognized.
But this looks like fun: The picture doesn't do this scene justice. That is a rooster tail coming off the leeward ama.
