Has anybody had any experience with the Costco 6V Golf Car batteries? They seem really inexpensive ($61), but hows the quality and performance? Thanks. Bob

Check the ratings...

I considered them few months ago, but found the amps were farily low compared to what I could get a local batter supplier. Don't remember the details, but for my needs the cost/benefit wasn't there when I did the calculations.

it might be good to know what the mfg is as Costco doesn't make them. If you can find out or someone else knows, it's a simple matter to discern their quality/rating etc.

6 volt batteries from Fisheries Supply are our favorites. The 245 AH batteries cost about $99.

no experience with them but,,,

if it seems too good to be true, it probably is. You get what you pay for with batteries.

Tom, that sounds like a pretty high capacity . .

Did you have a problem locating a battery box tall enough for them? Any clearance problems you had to solve at the battery location? I'm seriously considering replacing my house battery with a pair of 6V golf.

Trojan T-105s are just as cheap.

Check with a local battery supplier. Lots of people have the trojans and seem happy with them.

Dollars vs Amps

Buying a battery based on the dollars per AH, is a big mistake. HEll, I've got a couple of old ones around here, I'll sell you for much less per AH. A battery that costs a buck more per AH and lasts three times as long is more of a bargain than the cheaper battery.

6V Batteries

Everyone knows that any item that says marine is overpriced and folks that pay for name brands (like TROJAN) get what they pay for, a fancy name sticker. I have had excellent service from 6v batteries from SAMS Club (Our local COSTCO didn't carry them in stock in New England)
