Good advice,. OR: buy both and return the one that's too big or too small. We've been answering this same question, this way, for decades.Lesson learned- don't guess. Measure instead.
Stu just wondering what shaft size you have and what you use?Good advice,. OR: buy both and return the one that's too big or too small. We've been answering this same question, this way, for decades.
1" shaft 3/16" packingStu just wondering what shaft size you have and what you use?
No I have a Volvo MD22L-B. But it is 50hp and uses the same diameter shaft as you. Our boats are just inches different in length. But measure first to avoid a return trip to the shaft packing store. Thanks Rich. very helpful.
I have the 4JH4E larger engine same for you?
I don't want this to sound like a smart-aleck comment, so please don't take it that way. We have a 2005 model year Hunter 306, and it came with a big manual in a 3-ring binder. The packing size is listed in the manual. Assuming the previous owner (if any) didn't toss out the manual, have you looked there? Many, many times, I've found myself asking a question here, only to later be looking through the rather voluminous contents of the blue canvas bag which came with our boat, which contains a pamphlet on just about every system on the boat, and where the answer could be found.Folks I own a Hunter 41 DS 2005. The shaft size is 1 1/4" - any idea what size shaft packing material I should use 3/8th or 1/4"??
Yet another case of my not reading the whole thread carefully! Glad you found it, though. Thanks Jaysweet - please see in my earlier post (28 April) that I did eventually find the picture in my Owners Manual that I already had. Thanks friend.
