Had one
I had an alcohol stove on the boat I had before I got my C27. It took a little while to learn it's idiosyncracies, but after awhile I got comfortable with it, although I much prefer the propane one I have on my 27.You need to pump up the tank, then crack the valve slightly to allow enough alcohol to flow to fill the priming cup underneath the burner more than about 1/2 full. Then close the valve on the tank. Light the alcohol in the priming cup and let it burn off until the flame goes out. LET IT ALL BURN OFF! Once you've burned enough alcohol in the cup to empty it, the burner will be warm enough to vaporize the alcohol as it flows up from the tank. That's the key! Then open the valve, and light the burner. If you open the valve and try to start the burner before the it's warm enough to vaporize the alcohol, you'll get a flaring flame that can take off your eyebrows (or your curtains!).Water will put out an alcohol fire by cooling the alcohol down. Keep a spray bottle full of water near the stove where you cna get hold of it in a hurry in case you get a flare-up.Oh, and alcohol doesn't burn with a particularly hot flame, so it takes awhile to cook.Good luck!
