Our Beneteau 37 2012 has a control panel that includes fuel, water, volts plus. Can the lights for backlighting be replaced? We have to use a flash light to read the values. The panel opens so you can see the back of the board but it is scary to start pulling on things!

We had our panel replaced a few years ago after a nearby lightning strike. At the time (2018) the panel was $575, and our yard charged $200 to replace it. I don’t know if it’s possible to replace just the backlight. My guess is it’s all integral and can’t be separated, but I haven’t tried.

Often each of the individual gauges has a light inside it. Go look up gauge websites, like Teleflex and see how they are built.

Looks like more investigating is required! I don't like the $750 option but most likely correct. Maybe just another light behind the board in the cabinet or a lot of flashlights!

Agree, likely the lights are in the individual gauges.

The Beneteau panel isn’t specific gauges though, it’s an integrated multifunction LCD.

The back of the panel is an integrated circuit board. Not sure how it’s connected to the display and if there’s any way to get them as separate components.

After 5 sec. of inactivity, the display returns automatically to the DEFAULT display. By default, the backlighting is OFF and turns on automatically when a page is activated, It switches off again when the display goes into POWER SAVING MODE. not clear to me how a flashlight would fix that

When it goes to sleep the backlight is off but the LCD segments are still on, so the data is shown, it’s just hard to read black LCD segments on an unlit background.

Then connect the tank sensors to the analog sensor ports on the Cerbo GX....
I’m not sure the GX would be able to read the VDO water tank sensors. Every 20 seconds the panel sends a pulse to the sensors to activate them. The sensors then send a signal on a different wire back to the panel, with a voltage of 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5 volts depending on tank level. The voltage only spikes for about half a second before gradually falling back to around 1V, until the next pulse. That all sounds pretty different from what the GX reads.

Then a GX Tank 140 adapter would be necessary to read voltages....

So adjust the contrast and brightness. Correctly adjusted, it's easily read during daytime without the backlight. I've seen an incorrectly set screen on at least 5-6 Beneteau I've been on in the past few years, including a few at the boat show! Seems like this gets missed when dealers do their delivery prep, or owners mess with it and forget how to get back into the menu. As the screen ages, it's normal to have to adjust it a bit.

Hi, just experienced a nearby lightning strike too, blew my lcd panel out! Fuse in back, keeps blowing. Think I'm going to replace with this PICO Battery Monitor - Simarine and some sensors and the N2K gateway. Anyone have experience with this brand?

David, that is my panel. I don't have the manual. What does it say about adjusting the brightness and contrast?

Here’s a copy/paste of that part. I’ll try to upload the full PDF when I’m at my computer later.

3.4. Settings menus

? After 5 sec. of inactivity, the display returns automatically to the DEFAULT display.

CONTRAST

Well folks the brightness does not work the values are correct but hard to read. holding a button down for more than 2 seconds gets me to the adjustments but they do not react to further pressing. So, I will live with it so long as the values work. Thank you all for your involvement!
