I'm fine with camping. Though I made the inside of my Mariner pretty comfortable.
Wow! What a stunning boat! I assume that is Swartswood Lake. It's a shame that New Jersey lakes in such beautiful settings are too small to fully enjoy with a sailboat. I eventually left Lake Hopatcong with my 27' Starwind because the lake is just too limiting. I do miss the fresh water. I agree with @Captain Larry-DH that once you are committed to long distance access to your boat and the bigger waters, the size really matters for comfort both during sailing and at anchor.

On a side note, I often think about the Tocks Island reservoir project that was killed in the 70's. Despite the valid objections, what an opportunity to create a huge 40-mile long reservoir for recreation in an absolutely stunning natural environment that we could really use in NW Jersey. Part of me says it is a shame that we don't have it. That whole area is beautiful but largely under-appreciated by the public due to the lack of access and neglectful management by the feds.

I wish there was a way to search marinas by price. If I was looking for a cheap/inexpensive marina in Ct. small nothing to fancy. I know ha ha . Sailboat marina not to far up a river. I guess I'd have to call or search each one to get prices? Any ideas? Seems like I'd have to make a lot of phone calls.
A couple of Mariner owners keep their boats on trailers on the hard (masts up) at a marina right beside the Niantic public launch ramp at Mago Point in Waterford. Quite a drive from NJ, but beats the drive from NC (I've driven there for the Mariner Rendezvous). Waterford/Niantic does have the advantage of being within a day's sail of eastern Long Island, Block Island, New London, Mystic, etc. Disadvantage is the railroad bridge but they have openings every 15 minutes or so.

PS You've done a gorgeous job of refinishing.

O'Day Mariner Swartswood Lake
Fred, yes I've always wanted to go to one of the rendezvous. Things just get so busy. I go to Mystic seaport a lot so I'm used to that drive. I'm actually thinking of maybe selling my Mariner in the next year. Haven't really decided yet. I'm obsessed with gaff rigged boats. just love them. I just bought a Beetle cat to have fun with and I have plans on my desk to build a larger catboat. Right now I just want to get another couple of weeks of sailing in this year.
