Confused about pipe sizes - trying to make dip tube for new tank

Not really necessary to tab it. Holding tanks don't bounce or tip over, but they can slide. The solution: something like quarter round or picture frame moulding at the bottom of all sides to "box it in." It's not necessary or even desirable to "glue" it to the tank...the tank just needs sit in the "frame."

I think i was not clear. Replacement wood platform to be tabbed to the hull. Tank to be strapped to the platform. Original version shown below. Looks like 3-4 layers of glass were used to secure wood to hull. The tank sits inside small compartment.
