Concrete docks-properly installed, are fantastic! We're at Maine Yacht center in Portland and our outer dock is a floating concrete dock imported from the North Sea and it's withstood winters and Nor'easters without any damage. . I also found out that a nail that was used to fasten one of those flimsy rubber bumpers to a wooden dock will also leave a nasty gouge! I hate to say it but my boat has more than a few scars from my momentary lapses around docks. The problem that we have is that the great majority of docks have narrow beams and I sometimes can't even get into a dock when I have my fenders out with our beam which is just under 10'.
